NOT to go
to Christ Episcopal Church...
#10 - I don't own a tie or a pair
of heels...
You don't have to dress up! Please come dressed
comfortably and we will welcome you just as you are. This is
worship... not People Magazine's best dressed list. We believe
that you can worship God in your jeans, just as well as your best suit (if
you own one).
#9 - The church walls will fall
down if I walk in...
We don't think so... We know that God loves you!
And, regardless of your past, God wants to have a relationship with you!
If the church walls had mouths, they would smile and welcome you. And
since they don't, let us do that.
#8 - Organized religion doesn't do
anything for me...
Of course it doesn't! Who has ever been loved by a
religion? We believe in a loving, living God, and loving our neighbors
as our self like Jesus taught us, not a "religion."
Neither did most of us when we first came here. But
strangers spoke to us, and we will speak to you. And who knows?...
Maybe you will meet someone you know.
#5 - Church people think that they
have it all figured out...
Life isn't about figuring it all out for some kind of
"pop-quiz." Most of life is about mystery. All of us, even "church-y" people, are on a spiritual
journey together, and we continue to grow by questioning throughout our
lives! Because if we are not growing in our faith and learning to live
with mystery, then we are not
living at all.
#4 - Church people are clueless...
Some folks think that church has nothing to do with REAL
LIFE. We strive to share a faith message that offers hope for abundant
life right were YOU are in your day-to-day struggles. If church
doesn't deal with reality, what's the point?
#3 - I'm just not comfortable with
the idea of church...
Many of us weren't either, with some memories of what
church "use to be." We have a comfortable, relaxed environment, with
an interesting and memorable service and message. We do not expect you
to do "anything" but worship God with us... So, we guarantee, NO
awkward and embarrassing moments!
#2 - I don't need someone to tell
me that I am doing everything wrong...
Who does? We understand God to be the One who loves
us, heals us, and transforms us. We believe God teaches us to love,
and doesn't criticize us when we are trying.
AND
The #1 Reason NOT to go to Christ Church...
Sunday morning is the only morning
I can sleep in...
You are in luck! Our service is not until 10:30 a.m. So, if
you work a regular job during the week that starts at 7 a.m. or 8 a.m., then you get
to sleep-in an extra hour or two. If this is the
only thing keeping you away -

It has often been said, "if you can go out late on
Saturday night (for you), then you can definitely come to church on Sunday
morning (for God)." Even our priest has been known to "nap" on Sunday afternoon!
We feel that worship is the VERY
